Over a dozen Marksmen competed in the Dallas Area Model United Nations (DAMUN) competition Oct. 21, bringing home eight awards.
In Model United Nations conferences, participants typically act as delegates of a country or political group – for example, one might be representing South Africa as a delegate in the General Assembly. Every delegate’s goal is to be accurate to their country’s positions and gain the best possible outcome for their country – accordingly, the best delegates are given awards. Marksmen who achieved this honor at DAMUN included freshman Azim Moosa, sophomores Ben Standefer and Ekaksh Bansal, junior Arjun Poi and seniors Adam Kappelman, Aaron Augustine, Matthew Chen and Thomas Whitehurst.
Though they celebrated their impressive success, members of the team are now focusing on the work ahead of them: in just a few days, they’ll compete at Coppell’s Model Arab League event, with more to come in the future.
