Accompanied by faculty advisers David Fisher and Jerusha Westbury, a dozen Marksmen of the Model United Nations Club attended the annual Harvard Model United Nations Conference (HMUN) in downtown Boston.
People from all over the world attend the conference to be assigned roles of international leaders and debate relevant issues that affect the modern world. HMUN is an opportunity for young participants to further develop and hone skills that are related to the intricacies of global relations.
The school representatives departed Jan. 24 to begin the four-day program and arrived back in Dallas on Sunday, Jan. 28. At HMUN, numerous Marksmen won awards for their performances throughout the discussions. Freshmen Azim Moosa won a Best Delegate award, sophomore Reagan Graeme and sophomore Benjamin Standefer both won Diplomatic Commendation awards, senior Thomas Whitehurst won an Honorable Delegate award and sophomore Andrew Liu won an Outstanding Delegate award.
