Beginning early last year, Industrial Arts Teacher Rachel Muldez incorporated metal and jewelry casting into the Wood and Metal curriculum, allowing students to create industry-level rings using new machinery. Students like Senior Joseph Day have already cast rings for his parents and are serving as huge proponents for the continuation of this new addition to Wood and Metal.
Senior Charlie Hill recently took place in the YoungArtsCompetition and gained national recognition for his work in furniture design. The Junior Wood and Metal class are beginning to submit their works to several different competitions and exhibitions and are spending ample time in the Wood and Metal studio to prepare.
The mirror cube near Decherd will disappear soon, as Senior Bryan Graham is working to create a new senior art sculpture that will replace it in the coming months. Although each individual model is not much bigger than a hand, the final product is projected to reach nearly seven feet high.
