This past Wednesday, students in the Spanish IV honors class went to the Meadows Museum for a cultural learning experience about Spanish art.

They observed many different paintings and works from artists such as Diego Velázquez, Joan Miró, El Greco and more. Students have been studying these artists for the past year because of their extensive impact in Spanish culture and art.

Accompanying the students were J.J. Connolly Master Teaching Chair Nancy Marmion, Head of Admissions Korey Mack and Director of Community Service Jorge Correa.

The students were able to receive help from museum staff to further their knowledge and understanding of the works that they would find difficult to understand.

The students first observed cubist and surrealist art, featuring artists Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. Later, groups viewed works by Francisco de Goya, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and Diego Velázquez, which were intended to give a perspective on how life was back in the monarchical time when kings and queens ruled in Spain. The trip lasted just over two hours.
