Sophomore Tony Lu works on a difficult math problem.
Students competed in the nation-wide AMC math competition Nov. 6. The competition is a 25-question, 75-minute test that challenges the test-taker’s ability to apply simple techniques to complex problems. Two versions of the contest are given each year; Marksmen can also take the AMC 10B or AMC 12B on Nov. 12. Students who do well on the AMC will be invited to take the American Invitational Mathematics Competition (AIME) on Feb. 1 or Feb. 7.
