The faculty and staff of the school are highly regarded for their ambition and expertise in their fields. College counselor Josh Shandera is no different, and he is currently obtaining his master’s degree in School Leadership at The University of Pennsylvania through a one year hybrid in-person and online program.
“I always knew I wanted to get my masters degree,” Shandera said, “I just wasn’t sure when it was going to happen. The pieces just fell into place.”
Shandera has been working tirelessly on this degree, going to the University of Pennsylvania for one weekend each month for in-person classes, and attending two Zoom classes per month as well as working on assignments and presentations.
“It’s been really cool working with people who are also in education but have different backgrounds and jobs,” said Shandera, “It’s been a great experience and lots of fun.”
The program has a flexible schedule that allows Shandera and his classmates to continue their jobs while working towards a degree in the process. Shandera believes that this program will help him in the future in his career at the school and to better help the school.
“I had never done anything in education prior to this role (college counseling), so it was a new experience for me that I’ve enjoyed and still want to grow in.”
