Junior Aamir Tinwala recently launched the first line of products for his clothing brand Ascynd, which features gym wear with car-inspired designs. The initial collection includes an oversized tee and an oversized hoodie, both featuring the Porsche GT3 RS. The tee depicts the car with angel wings on the back while the hoodie has a bold design of the car engulfed in flames as tattoo-style sleeves running down the forearm.
Since his launch, Tinwala has gained sales through friends, while actively marketing his business through Instagram as the primary platform for his brand. On Instagram, Tinwala has reached out to influencers to grow his following.
“I have an Instagram page that I’ve got up and I’m contacting influencers,” Tinwala said. “I send products out to influencers, and I can get them to make a couple videos and a couple pieces of content for me, and I’ll post that.”
In order to expand his reach, Tinwala plans to attend car shows, hoping to widen his network of potential customers and influencers.
“To get into contact with more influencers, I’m going to start going to car shows and holding tables there, and I think that’ll be a good way for me to get sales, at least when I’m starting out,”
However, with the demands of managing his business on top of his daily responsibilities, Tinwala has learned that securing influencers and creating content is time-consuming and may not yield immediate results.
“I get an influencer to agree to get sponsored by my stuff one by one, and videos aren’t that effective. It takes an hour and a half to make a video, and I get like one follower per video,” Tinwala said. “Growth is mostly from influencers, so that’s kind of a slow process.”
So far, Tinwala has sold around $4,500 worth of product and is currently finalizing designs in preparation for his next launch.
“30% of the product has been sold so far, and now I’m getting stuff for my next launch,” Tinwala said. “I’m already having samples made, and I’m going to get another order of samples made. And I just want to make sure I get everything ready so that I can launch right when I sell out.”
