Junior Max Lee
When junior Max Lee dove into the pool for the first water polo game of the season, he made more than just a small splash. In his debut, he scored 3 goals and helped lead his team to a strong win in front of a home crowd, flashing glimpses of what seems to be a breakout year for Lee.
Lee credits his standout performance to his growth in skill and strength during the off season.
“I’ve gotten faster, stronger, and more well-rounded,” Lee said. “I also have a much bigger role now that the seniors are gone. I’ve got the ball in my hands a lot more, which has pushed me to step up.”
Part of this new role means leading younger teammates through the grind of preseason.
“During preseason we were doing two-a-days,” Lee explains. “I try to encourage the freshmen and sophomores to trust the process. Preseason is tough, but once the games start, it gets easier and then we can really play our best.”
With his leadership and dedication, Lee has helped guide the team to a current 7-0 record and has earned the acknowledgement of athlete of the week.
