Students, families and faculty crowd the Perot Quadrangle. Anticipation has been building since last November, when football season ended, for this day. The home season opener.
The year’s first home match-up occurred on Sept. 6, when the Lions bested the Cistercian Hawks 36-6 to take home their first win of the season.
Although the gridiron matchup was the main attraction, the pre-game festivities were equally exciting and well-attended. About 90 minutes before the kickoff, Marksmen, parents, faculty and alums gathered on the Quad to celebrate Lion Pride Night.
Fans enjoyed burgers and ice cream on the Quad, and then students picked up their custom white-out shirts to show their support while sitting in the electric student section.
This night gave the community a chance to come together and celebrate the start of a new school year. In addition, new Marksmen and their families had the opportunity to meet students and faculty and become immersed in Marksmen school spirit.
“It definitely connects the entire student body literally in the sense that everyone is there, and philosophically, in the sense that for one night we all have the same goal, supporting our team as best as we can,” sophomore Evan Yepuri said. “I think that Lion Pride Night definitely brings our community together.”
