A night at the Weeknd concert was one to remember.
My face was met with the fiery heat of pyrotechnics as The Weeknd played his hit song “Saõ Paulo” in the AT&T Stadium.
The crowd roared with excitement as ladies in crimson colored dresses made their way to a golden statue at the center of the stage.
I began to yell with excitement as a man who I had never met before began to sing his heart out in front of me.
Abel Testafaye, also known as The Weeknd, is not only known for his electric yet emotional music, but for his dramatic and hectic concerts.
On Aug. 29, 2025 I was able to attend his last night in Arlington, Texas for the “After Hours Till Dawn Tour.” What I experienced next was nothing short of a trip to purgatory and back.
From the start until the end of the concert, I felt an intense atmosphere from the crowd. What he sang, they felt, what he felt, they sang. This mutually beneficial relationship allowed for the voice of a single man to mesh with the voices of thousands. His heartbreak became ours, and so did his achievements.
The Weeknd was accompanied by a talented cast, such as legendary producer Mike Dean and Playboi Carti, but of course it was The Weeknd himself who stole the soul from the crowd.
Every song stood out from the last. Whether it was by changing the graphics on the colossal screen, or the lights that blinded every single person in the crowd, The Weeknd was able to envelop us into his dark and twisted world. Every moment was carefully designed to inculcate us with a new emotion or sense that was nothing short of unbelievable.
Of course, the music was the star in this All-Star team. The Weeknd did an amazing job in choosing his setlist by making it relatable to new and old fans. He brought songs from his newest album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow”, and old fan favorites such as songs from “House of Balloons,” or “Kiss Land.”
For me, the best songs came from one of his newest albums: “Dawn FM.” The music from that album brought a beautifully haunting atmosphere inside the stadium that was accompanied by slow tracks anyone could dance to. It was all slow and steady until Playboi Carti rose from the flames and performed “Timeless” with Abel. The crowd roared as both artists jumped ecstatically across the stage, fire engulfing their silhouettes.
Overall, the concert was an otherworldly experience that exceeded my expectations. From the start to the end, The Weeknd was able to deliver an amazing performance for each of his songs.
His voice never got weary and his movement and style was full of energy throughout the entire performance. It was truly amazing to watch someone who’s music I held in such high regard sing the songs I love in front of me. Overall, 10/10.
