Every Friday, 102 copies of senior Carson Bosita’s work can be seen flying around campus.
Bosita, an avid visual artist, was recently tasked with designing the emblem on the beloved senior shirts over the summer. His design, a gold lion’s head with a blue mane spelling out 2025, was the product of many days’ work and over a year of digital art.
“I started getting into graphic design in the beginning of junior year,” Bosita said. “I thought it was really interesting, and I think I started with posters for International Week.”
Designing the logo was far from a one and done deal; he often spent hours tweaking and polishing the design.
“I tried to brainstorm a couple of ideas and then run them by the people asking for the logo,” Bosita said. “Then, I made a new sketch. It’s all about doing something crude and then refining it.”
He didn’t stop at just designing the senior shirts, though; he created the uniforms for the St. Mark’s Spurs and the white-out shirts for the first football game of the season. All three of these projects required him to think creatively about each group’s unique characteristics.
“Usually these organizations have themes, so you need to use the motifs that are associated with those themes,” Bosita said. “It’s mostly about finding what you want to say about the topic.”
Art has always been a facet of who he is. Many of the skills that he’s learned through the meticulous process of creating art have proven to be useful in his day-to-day pursuits.
“There’s a lot of failure involved with visual arts, so you have to learn how to keep yourself up and deal with your emotions,” Bosita said. “It can sometimes feel isolating, so you need to learn how to rationalize those feelings.”
Bosita believes that his artistic journey is far from over, and he’s optimistic about where his art will take him.
“I do plan on majoring in art,” said Bosita. “I think fine arts are going to be a pretty big part of my life.”
