Fans made their way out to Norbuck park to watch the cross country team compete in the SPC Championship race Saturday, Nov 9. The team has been practicing since the summer, going on long runs and participating in interval workouts. Because it had rained over the weekend, the course was muddy and the grass was wet, adding another challenge to an already difficult course. The top-10 racers from all 14 teams in the SPC toed the line and waited for the gun to go off. While last year’s championship race had separate race heats for the 3A and 4A teams, this year all of the teams were in one big race and were separated at the finish line. Sophomore Jackson Bailey placed 8th, earning All-SPC honors, helping the team achieve a 5th place finish.
