After playing 15 sets over the course of 48 hours, the Volleyball team was crowned SPC champions on their home court in Spencer Gym Saturday, Nov. 9. All three of the team’s games went to five sets, but every time, the Lions came out on top. In their first game, they beat Fort Worth Country Day. The game was held at 2:30 on Friday, so any student who was free during the last class period of the day came to the game. Half of the bleachers were taken up by students, creating a one of a kind atmosphere for the athletes. Their next game was later that evening against AWTY International School. The lions went down in the fifth set 11-9, before scoring six unanswered points to win the game and set up a re-match with Episcopal High School (EHS) in the championship. The Lions were looking for revenge after losing to them last year in the championship. The Lions won the first two sets, however EHS answered back by winning the next two, forcing a fifth, winner take all set. Lead by a platoon of seniors, the lions came out victorious, winning the set 15-12.
