From Friday, February 13, to Sunday, February 15, the St. Mark’s Math Team competed in the Harvard-MIT Mathematics Tournament(HMMT) in Boston. The team consisted of seven members: seniors Richard Wang and Kayden Zhong, juniors Michael Chang and Tony Lu, sophomores Kyle Lin and Eugene Wang and freshman Nathan Liu. The competition, which hosts players from around the world, takes place in three stages: individual, team, and guts. During the individual stage, players partake in three rounds, Algebra, Geometry and Combinatorics. Of the team members, Liu was the only student to place in the top ten, taking the 6th spot in the geometry round. After returning from Boston, the team has set its sights on next year’s competition.
