The Dallas Mavericks are expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison on Tuesday, Nov. 11, according to reports. Harrison has been the team’s GM since 2021 after previously working as a sneaker executive at Nike, inheriting a young team lead by star Luka Doncic and surrounded by several other core players such as Kristaps Porzingis and Jalen Brunson. Harrison has faced criticism for trading Porzingis and letting Brunson leave in free agency, while acquiring Kyrie Irving. However, the Mavs’ record steadily improved over the past few years, cumulating with an appearance in the NBA Finals in 2024. In 2023, team owner Mark Cuban sold his majority stake in the Mavericks to the Adelson family, who elected to keep Harrison and Head Coach Jason Kidd rather than replacing them. Harrison has recently come under heavy criticism for trading Luka Doncic in exchange for Anthony Davis. Since the trade in February, fans have held protests at games and chanted “fire Nico.” Although the Adelson family have expressed their confidence in Harrison and the team, now led by rookie Cooper Flagg, the Mavs have started the 2025-26 season with a record of 3-8, leading to Harrison’s firing.
