On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Inclusion and Diversity Leadership Council (IDLC) hosted Good Shepherd Episcopal School on campus for a discussion and activity titled “Building Your Bonds: Discovering New Friendships.”
The discussion was part of the IDLC’s new program called “Lion’s Den,” in which the IDLC brings in a school to showcase to their students how the IDLC’s discussions are run.
Throughout the year, the IDLC runs multiple discussions known about conflicting topics on campus. These discussions are known as Lion’s Tables and are open to lower, middle and upper school students.
The event began with regards from Assistant Head of Upper School John Ashton. In his speech, Ashton acknowledged the IDLC’s presence on campus and their effort to bring people together.
During the event, the IDLC met with the students from Good Shepherd and formed lines across from each other, so that both the council and the students from Good Shepherd could introduce themselves one-on-one. After the initial activity, moderators from the IDLC helped guide discussions about expanding friendships and forming new bonds going forward, both inside and outside of their school community.
