With a 76-52 win over Kingdom Collegiate Academy, Greg Guiler recorded his 400th win as the Lions’ varsity basketball coach.

Guiler, who took over the program in 2006, is the all-time leader in career wins among the school’s athletic programs and has helped over a dozen Lions’ players go on to compete at the collegiate level. A two-time SPC champion, Guiler’s teams have won over 20 games in five of the past six seasons (excluding COVID-shortened seasons).

He has been honored by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches as Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2020. From St. Mark’s, Guiler received the John H. Murrell Excellence in Teaching Award in 2013 and was a finalist for the Ralph B. Rodgers Award in 2011. He has also served as the Lions’ head golf coach since 2016, winning an SPC championship in 2025.

With the win, the Lions move to 14-8 on the year. The team will open SPC conference play against Cistercian on Tuesday, Jan 13.
