The Lions’ golf team traveled to Houston on April 21-22 for the 4A SPC Championship at the Golf Club of Houston. As the defending champion, the Lions came into the tournament with high expectations as the program returned four of five players from last year’s team. However, the team finished a tough first day with a total score of 316, 18 shots behind the first-place Kinkaid Falcons. Duff McKay, the reigning individual champion, led the Lions by shooting par for the round.
The next day, the Lions performed better with a score of 297 for a final score of 613. Sam Merryman shot a 73, six better than his first day. McKay finished two over as the team made a valiant effort to cut into the deficit but would finish 3rd behind the Falcons and the Greenhill Hornets. McKay finished tied for second with a 146, and Merryman ended in a three-way draw for fifth.
