McDonald’s Week is a yearly event in which the junior class, with help from the McDonald’s located on the intersection of Preston and Royal, launch a weekly fundraiser from Nov. 16 – 20 to help raise money for Austin Street Shelter. The event is held the week before Thanksgiving break with different activities held every morning at McDonald’s.
Prior to McDonald’s week, the junior class had already released both the video and theme for this year’s fundraising event: McMario. Additionally, on instagram varying accounts, such as the Superfanmen and other students, different people began to promote the event. These features included Tony Romo, Head Varsity Football Coach Harry Flaherty and Lavar Ball.
The week began with a car wash and bake sale on campus thanks to the Elevated Cooking Club led by junior Tex Davison. People who decided to participate were given the option to buy from the various baked goods and were also offered a free car wash from the junior class.
On Tuesday students were allowed to go to McDonald’s during class time with teacher permission. At the location there were various activities such as Ping-Pong, two on two basketball and even a Nintendo Switch in which students could play an assortment of games.
With last year’s junior class breaking the record for donations, the junior class is looking to make their mark to help support Austin Street Shelter.
